Almost everyone I know who has been to South Korea had their photos taken along Nami Island's picturesque Metasequoia footpath, making it the most cliched destination in the country (at least for me). Nonetheless, I believe visiting the country is not complete without a sidetrip to this beautiful half-moon shaped island just a little north of Seoul.

At the Gapyeong station in Gapyeong county, where Nami Island & Petite France are located. It was 6 degrees when we alighted from the train, so cold!
For those asking about our itinerary, I will write about how we did our entire Korea trip as soon as I finish writing about the places we've visited. Patience, my friends haha!

Romanticized as Namiseom, Nami Island was named after the great General Nami who died at the young age of 28 after being falsely accused of treason during the reign of King Sejo.

Since the island is located north of Seoul, the temperature's a little lower here so the ponds and some parts of the river surrounding the island is freezing.

Petite France
Just a few minutes away from the Nami wharf is Petite France, a French themed cultural village in the Korean countryside built in honor of Saint-Exupery, the author Le Petit Prince (The Little Prince.)

Except for taking pictures of the beautiful French houses and adoring all the Little Prince memorabilia, there's not much you can do in Petite France. Though I've read somewhere that you can lodge there for a night and experience authentic French lifestyle.
