Guam 2016 Diary + 2017 Travel Plans

Saturday, November 12, 2016 Hagåtña, Guam

Okay I've been delaying this post for months now (as always I'm so sorry haha) and I'm finally sharing some stuff from our Guam trip last summer with my family. Our last trip together before this was actually back in 2013 when we went to the United States so when Cebu Pacific announced their Guam flights late last year, my parents immediately booked us to go back to the US...-ish, haha!

Funny thing: I've always thought of Guam as part of, or at least near Hawaii (you know, the place in Lilo & Stitch) so imagine my disappointment when I actually did my research and found out that it's not. My geography is bad I know I'm sorry.

Anyway, yeah my parents booked us 5 nights in the Pacific island which is funny because none of us likes the beach and apparently it's so small you can cover the entire island in a day (according to my friend who frequents the place) hahaha!

The main points of interest in the island are mostly beaches but we stayed in Outrigger Guam Resort (pretty nice hotel in front of Tumon Bay) so we didn't bother going to the other beaches.

This is the Two Lovers Point by the way, one of the main attractions in the island. According to Chamorro legends, this is where the daughter of a Spanish captain and her Chamorro lover jumped over for ~love~ because the woman's family is against their relationship. It's basically the Pacific's Romeo & Juliet hahaha!

We didn't spend a lot of time at the beach and we were always at outlet stores and going around eating Chamorro and American food.

If ever you're in Guam or Hawaii, don't forget to try the Hawaiian Loco Moco (dish beside the pancakes). It's white rice topped with hamburger patty, bacon, sausage, teriyaki beef & chicken, eggs, and gravy! I mean if we have our Halo-halo, they have their Loco Moco hahaha!

We spent our last night in the island at the Chamorro Village where people gather during weekends for good food and music.

Though it's US territory, you'll see a lot of Asians and Chamorros and probably the only "American" about the place is the currency hahaha!

Also, I'm so excited for 2017 I have so many travel plans! I'm looking forward to visiting Bhutan or Japan if my bank account allows me, but so far the only "plan" I'm sure of is Vietnam on February lol.

It's gonna be my first solo backpacking trip to another country and I'm half-scared, half-excited! My trip starts at Hanoi and I'll be travelling all the way south to Ho Chi Minh City with stop overs at Hue, Hoi An, and Da Nang. I haven't finalized my itinerary yet but I've booked all my flights, hotels, and train tickets already.

I also plan to take vlogging seriously for this trip (naks) since my Singapore vlog's a mess I don't even have the balls to post it, hahaha! Hopefully everything goes well so send good vibes to me!

  7. My entire working career up until that point had only been the safe route with a large corporation. You know the life. The daily grind. The BS you put up with because you figure this is the ONLY way. I even went on to get a psychology degree because the jobs I had been looking at required it. When I finished my degree I found that the amount of education I had was once again not enough. All the Ways to Get from Barcelona Airport to the City Centre

  8. This is a fascinating place with a ton of history, Bhushavali! I never know about Napoleon's exile or the island of St. Helena, which also looks like an incredibly interesting place! The most stunning part of this site for me is the Lion's Mound because it's just so incredibly symmetric. I'm also shocked at how tall it is!workout clothing Hawaii
